DocsOnboarding Wizard
The 5-step setup flow that runs after signup — what it does, how to resume it, and where to find it later.
What the wizard does
After you finish checkout, Laureo runs a short setup wizard that walks you through the five things every new CRM needs: industry context, contacts, a sales pipeline, teammates, and a brief tour. The whole flow takes about five minutes and you can skip any step.
The wizard surfaces automatically the first time you land in the app and again whenever you reach /onboarding. Once you mark setup complete (or dismiss the wizard), it stops appearing.
The five steps
Tell us about your team
Pick your industry and team size. Laureo uses this to pre-fill a pipeline shape, a set of suggested default views, and a few starter custom fields. You can change all of this later.
Get your data in
Three options: connect your Gmail or Outlook inbox and pull contacts from email history, upload a CSV, or load 50 sample companies and 150 people to explore Laureo without committing real data. Contacts brought in via inbox-sync land in a staging area you approve before they hit your live CRM.
Confirm your pipeline
Review the suggested pipeline stages (with probability percentages) and either keep them, edit them inline, or fall back to the Laureo default. The pipeline you confirm here becomes your default opportunity pipeline.
Invite your team
Add teammates by email and assign each one a role. Invitations go out as branded magic-link emails that expire after seven days. You can also skip this step and invite people later from Admin → Users.
You're in!
A short summary of what got configured plus three suggested next actions — usually "add your first deal," "log your first activity," and "explore the dashboard." This step marks onboarding complete.
Skipping and resuming
Every step has a Skip for now button. Skipped steps still count as resolved — the wizard treats them as "you've made a decision," not "you forgot." After completion you can re-open any step from the Review setup entry in the sidebar (it opens the in-app /setup page).
Until setup is complete, you'll see Finish setup in the left sidebar (above the divider), the user menu, and the dashboard's onboarding widget. After completion the sidebar and user-menu entries swap to Review setup (which opens the in-app /setup page), and the dashboard widget shows an "all set" card you can dismiss when you're ready.
Your activation score (X / 4)
On the final You're in! step you'll see a small Activationtile next to the contact and invite counts, showing a number from 0 to 4. That's your activation score — a quick read of how far you've gotten with Laureo. It updates as you complete each rung:
- 1 — you connected an inbox, ran an import, or loaded sample data.
- 2 — you confirmed (or customized) a pipeline, or created your first opportunity.
- 3 — you have at least one real contact, one real deal, and one logged activity.
- 4 — you invited a teammate AND came back to the app after the first session.
Sample data counts for rung 1 only. Rungs 2–4 require non-sample records so the score reflects real adoption, not the demo fixture. The score recomputes whenever you change onboarding state and is also refreshed daily by a background job — it can lag by up to 24 hours for actions taken outside the wizard.
Pausing onboarding
You can leave the wizard at any time without losing progress. The avatar in the top-right of the wizard opens an account menu with Ask Laureo, Help Center, Save & exit, and Sign out. "Save & exit" marks your current step as in-progress and routes you back to the dashboard — pick up later from any device.
Progress saves automatically as you click through each step. The header shows All changes saved when you're caught up, Saving… while a change is in flight, or Couldn't save · Retry if the network drops.
After completing setup, your sidebar swaps the Finish setup link for Review setup, which opens an in-app /setuppage (your sidebar and top bar stay put) showing your setup progress and each step’s status. It’s a normal page you can leave any time — nothing there interrupts the rest of the app.
Keyboard shortcuts
Enter advances the focused step (when the primary CTA is enabled and you're not typing in an input). ? opens the AI rail. Alt+← goes back. Esc closes the account menu.
FAQ
Can I skip the whole thing?
Yes. Dismiss the Setup checklist widget on the dashboard via the X in its top-right corner — that hides the widget and stops the nudges. Once dismissed, the sidebar entry reads Review setup and opens the in-app /setup page; from there (or by navigating to /onboarding directly) you can re-open any step at any time.
Will I lose data if I dismiss?
No. Dismissing only marks the wizard as resolved. Any contacts, pipeline edits, or invites you sent through the wizard remain.
How do I re-open it later?
Use the setup entry in the sidebar — it reads Finish setup while setup is in progress and Review setup once you've completed or dismissed it. You can also use the dashboard widget or navigate to /onboarding directly. The wizard resumes at your last unresolved step.
Does the wizard see my company's existing data?
The wizard only reads your profile, your industry hint, and the contacts you choose to bring in. It doesn't query existing opportunities, activities, or company records.
